BASIS is different from a traditional elementary or middle school. Students are challenged by expert teachers, supported as they build strong learning habits, and gradually taught to take ownership of their education.
Core BASIS Values
- Nerds are cool.
- School should be hard.
- Excellent student outcomes require expert teachers.
- Academic achievement is the responsibility and the reward of the entire network.
- Students are participants, not spectators, in their own education.
What Parents Can Do at Home
Instead of “Did you do your homework?” → “What is your plan for tonight?”
Instead of solving the problem → “What have you tried?”
Instead of immediately contacting the teacher → “How could you ask your teacher about this?”
Instead of fixing every mistake → “What did you learn from this?”
